Current Affairs is one of the most important parts of almost every Indian competitive exam. For bank exams (IBPS, SBI, RBI), SSC, Railways and state PSC tests, the General Awareness or General Knowledge section is full of questions on recent news, schemes, awards, sports and the economy. Most exams pick questions from the last 6 to 12 months, so you need to stay updated and revise often.
This Quizzory Current Affairs quiz helps you practice the way the real exam tests you, with multiple choice questions on national and international events, banking news, government schemes, sports and science. The goal is simple. The more you practice, the faster and more accurate you become, and that is exactly what helps you clear the cut-off in the General Awareness section.
National current affairs cover what is happening inside India in politics, government, the constitution and big national events. Questions can be on new laws and bills, important summits hosted in India, state news, and changes in key posts like the President, Vice President, Chief Justice or RBI Governor.
For exams, focus on events from the last 6 to 12 months. Note who did what, when and where. For example, India hosted the G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi in September 2023, and the African Union joined the G20 as a permanent member during India's presidency. Facts like these come up again and again.
International current affairs deal with world events that matter to India, such as global summits, wars, treaties, and changes in world leaders. The G20, BRICS, the United Nations, the World Bank and the IMF are common sources of questions.
The G20 is the world's main forum for economic cooperation, and its members together make up about 85 percent of global GDP. The G20 Summit 2025 was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the first ever G20 Summit on African soil. Keep track of where each summit is held and the main theme, because dates, host cities and themes are favourite exam questions.
Banking and economy current affairs are very important for IBPS, SBI and RBI exams, but they also appear in SSC and Railways. This area covers the Union Budget, the Economic Survey, RBI policy, repo rate changes, GDP growth and key banking terms.
Sanjay Malhotra took charge as the 26th Governor of the RBI in December 2024. The RBI controls inflation and money supply mainly through the repo rate, which is the rate at which it lends to commercial banks. The Union Budget is presented every year on 1 February by the Finance Minister, and Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2025 on 1 February 2025.
Also learn the basics that do not change often, like the difference between repo rate and reverse repo rate, what CRR and SLR mean, and which bank is India's central bank. These static banking facts are easy marks if you revise them.
Awards are a high scoring area because the facts are clear and easy to memorise. Learn India's top civilian awards in order, which are the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
In sports, the highest honour is the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award, followed by the Arjuna Award. International honours like the Nobel Prize and the Oscars also appear. Rabindranath Tagore was the first Indian to win a Nobel Prize, for Literature in 1913.
Appointments are the other half of this topic. Keep a short list of who holds key posts right now, such as the President, the Chief Justice of India, the RBI Governor, the heads of ISRO and major banks, and newly appointed brand ambassadors. These change over time, so update your list every few months.
Sports questions cover recent tournaments, winners, host countries and records. India had a strong run in 2024. The Indian men's cricket team won the ICC T20 World Cup, and D Gukesh became the youngest ever World Chess Champion at the age of 18, the second Indian after Viswanathan Anand to win the title.
At the Paris 2024 Olympics, Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra were among India's medal winners. India also won double gold (men and women) at the 2024 Chess Olympiad in Budapest. For exams, remember the sport, the name, the event and the year together, because that is how the question is framed.
Science and technology current affairs focus mostly on space and defence. ISRO's Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing near the Moon's south pole on 23 August 2023, making India the first country to land there and the fourth country to soft land on the Moon. Aditya-L1, India's first solar observatory mission, was launched in September 2023, and Gaganyaan is India's first human spaceflight programme.
Government schemes are tested in almost every exam. Learn the scheme name, the ministry, the launch year and the main aim. Popular ones include PM-KISAN (income support of 6,000 rupees a year to farmers), Ayushman Bharat (health cover), PM Awas Yojana (housing), PM Surya Ghar (free rooftop solar electricity, launched February 2024) and PM Vishwakarma (support for artisans). Knowing the simple aim of each scheme is usually enough for one or two marks.
Current Affairs appears in the General Awareness or General Knowledge section of almost every Indian competitive exam, including IBPS PO and Clerk, SBI PO and Clerk, RBI Assistant and Grade B, SSC CGL, CHSL and MTS, RRB exams and most state PSC tests. In bank Mains exams this section can carry 40 to 50 marks, and a large part of it is current affairs from the last 6 months, often mixed with banking and economy news. Because there is usually no negative marking on well prepared general awareness questions and they take very little time to answer, this section is one of the best places to boost your score and clear the cut-off.
