How to conduct an online test for a coaching institute

Sign in free, build your question paper with the right marks, set a timer to exam pace and turn on the leaderboard. Post one link in your batch WhatsApp group, students attempt it in any browser with no app or login, and you get auto scored results plus a full answer sheet for every student. The real value is the report: it shows you which chapter the whole batch is weak in, so you know what to re-teach next class. The six steps below take about 15 minutes the first time.

The steps

Run your online test in six steps

Follow these in order. The first time takes about 15 minutes, after that a weekly test takes only a few minutes to set up.

  1. 1

Sign in and start the test paper

Open Quizzory and sign in with your free SurveyHeart account, you need this to create. Tap to make a new quiz. Title it the way your batch already talks, like Batch A Physics Weekly Test 14 or NEET Bio Ch4 Genetics, and put the total marks and the time in the first instruction line so a student reads it before they begin.

  2. 2

Build the paper with the right marks

Add MCQ for the bulk of the paper, short answer for one word or numeric answers, and long answer only where a student must show working. Tick the correct option on every MCQ as you type it. Set marks per question, for example 1 mark for a one line MCQ and 4 marks for a multi step numerical, and Quizzory totals it for you.

  3. 3

Set the timer to exam pace

Turn on the timer. Use real exam pace as your guide, about one minute per MCQ, so a 30 question weekly test gets roughly 30 minutes and a full mock gets the real 180 minutes. The paper submits on its own when time is up, so every student in the batch gets the exact same window.

  4. 4

    Turn on the leaderboard

Switch on the leaderboard so students see their rank after they submit. It ranks by score, and a tie is broken by who finished faster. It is not live, you refresh the page to pull the latest, so read it after the deadline. Keep it off for a quiet diagnostic test where you do not want ranks on show.

  5. 5

Share one link on the batch group

Copy the share link and post it in your batch WhatsApp group at the start time with one line, start now, you have 30 minutes. Students tap it and it opens in any phone or laptop browser. No app to install and no login needed just to attempt, so a borrowed phone works too.

  6. 6

Read the report and find the weak chapter

MCQ and short answers are scored the instant a student submits, long answers come to you to mark by hand. Open the report to see every score and the answer sheet for each attempt. Now look at which question most of the batch got wrong, that is the chapter to re-teach next class, not just the topper at the top of the rank list.

For coaching centres

A few tips that work well for batches

event_repeat

Fix a weekly test day

Run it on the same day each week, like every Sunday 6 pm. The batch starts to expect it and revision becomes a habit, not a surprise. Post the link only at start time so the window stays equal.

label

Name tests by chapter

Use titles like Physics Current Electricity or Maths Integration. Months later the report list tells you which chapter the batch keeps failing, so revision planning writes itself.

timer

Tell them the negative marking rule

Quizzory does not subtract for wrong answers. If your target exam like NEET or JEE has negative marking, write that in the instruction line so the batch still learns not to blind guess.

fact_check

Go over the answer sheet in class

After the test, open the answer sheet and explain the tricky questions. Students learn more from a clear review than from the score alone.

leaderboard

Use the rank list kindly

Praise the toppers and quietly call the slower students for extra help. The leaderboard should push the batch up, not put anyone down.

groups

Make a separate group link

Keep one WhatsApp group only for test links and results. Notices do not get lost there and every student knows exactly where to look.

FAQ

Questions teachers ask

Do my students need an app or login to take the test?add

No. Students open the shared link in any phone or laptop browser and start. There is no app to install and no login needed just to attempt, so even a student on a borrowed phone can sit the test. You, the creator, do need a free SurveyHeart account to build the test.

Can I match my real exam marks pattern?add

Yes. You set the marks on each question, so a one line MCQ can be 1 mark and a long numerical can be 4 marks, just like the board or entrance paper. Quizzory adds the total and shows the final score as a percent.

My entrance exam has negative marking, can Quizzory do that?add

No. Quizzory has no negative marking, a wrong answer scores zero and never goes below. If you train for NEET, JEE or UPSC where wrong answers cost marks, write that rule in the instruction line so students still think before guessing, but the platform score itself will not subtract.

How are long answer questions checked?add

MCQ and short answers are auto scored the moment a student submits. Long answers come to you so you read each one and award the marks by hand. The report then mixes both into one score per student.

Can the timer stop copying in the batch?add

The timer keeps everyone to the same window and auto submits when time is up, which cuts down on copying. There is no face proctoring or screen lock, so for a high stakes test keep it short, time bound, and run it in your hall under your eye rather than open all day.

Is it free to run a test for my whole batch?add

Yes. You can create a test, add questions, set a timer and share it with your full batch for free. Students attempt it from the link at no cost.
