BITSAT and State Engineering CETs in 2026: BITS Pilani Placement Records, MHT-CET, COMEDK, and Engineering Paths Outside JEE

BITSAT and State Engineering CETs in 2026: BITS Pilani Placement Records, MHT-CET, COMEDK, and Engineering Paths Outside JEE

JEE gets the spotlight. BITSAT and the state CETs quietly admit lakhs of students into strong engineering programmes every year. The IIT story is not the only engineering story in India.

BITSAT is the entrance for BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. The 2025 BITSAT cut-offs ran high, with Electrical and Electronics at Pilani around 291 to 293 marks, and Computer Science even higher. The reward is one of India's most consistent private placement records. The 2025 BITS Pilani batch posted an average package of ₹31.63 LPA across campuses.

BITS Pilani's 2025 average package landed at ₹31.63 LPA, ahead of several IITs in mid-tier ranks.

State CETs open a wider funnel. MHT-CET, COMEDK UGET, and KCET feed engineering admissions across Maharashtra and Karnataka, two of India's largest engineering states. MHT-CET tests 150 MCQs across Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, with seats spread across COEP, VJTI, PICT, and dozens of strong Mumbai and Pune colleges. KCET serves Karnataka residents and unlocks subsidised seats at RVCE, BMSCE, and PESIT.

COMEDK is open to candidates from across India and channels admissions into private colleges under the Karnataka unaided association.

The career question is the same one IIT students answer. Branch, internships, and skill stack decide the first offer. Tier-1 NITs and top state colleges often place students into the same product, banking, and analytics firms as the older IITs. The institute brand is a head start, not a finish line.

If JEE Main 2026 does not go as planned, pick two backup exams this week. MHT-CET or KCET if you live in Maharashtra or Karnataka, COMEDK or BITSAT if you want a national private option. A backup plan is not a fallback. It is the second door in a sensible career strategy.
